When searching for a new B2B data provider, a google search might bring you to one of these companies, Linkedin Sales Navigator (Screenshot on Right) or Zoominfo SalesOS.  Looking at these two solutions, you may see that the main difference is Linkedin Sales Navigator is a Social Platform that relies on users to keep their data up-to-date, whereas Zoominfo SalesOS is a data platform that relies on scraping of user data and online sources to resell to it’s users.

In this quick but revealing comparison, there are a few additional differences that immediately stand out..  

  1. Zoominfo has more data.  More data can simply mean more records to search through,  but you still need to know how accurate the data is and how frequently the data is re-verified.  More data does not necessarily mean better data. The more data a company provides, the more they have to work to ensure that data is accurate and re-verify that data, which eats up valuable resources that could be used on the user experience or customer service.  Zoominfo (Screenshot on Right), has a re-verification schedule of 6 – 36 months, for Linkedin, that re-verification schedule is solely the responsibility of it’s users.  Linkedin advertises that about half of their 303M profiles are actually active and updated.  This means that customers using Linkedin Sales Navigator may find their in-mail responses get seen less than 50% of the time. 

 2. Zoominfo offers intent data.  Linkedin does not.  Zoominfo offers bid stream intent data, which is one of the more basic intent features available.  When someone clicks on an ad of interest, Zoominfo tracks that person and can let you know, with some degree of inaccuracy, what company clicked on the ad.  They charge $25K for this add-on.  Linkedin’s best feature is simply seeing when someone is looking at your profile or your company profile, which could indicate interest or it could just be someone browsing around.
